Shark Steam Pocket Mop
From LoveToKnow Cleaning
The Shark Steam Pocket Mop is not named for its compact size. Instead, it gets its name from the “steam pocket” that surrounds the mop’s head. This steam pocket is essentially a double-sided microfiber pad that fits around the end of the mop like a sleeve. It’s designed to retain heat even when the mop is releasing steam to better clean and sanitize floors than a traditional mop would.
This mop cleans without the use of any type of soap or cleaning spray. Just the steam itself will clean up stains and spills with very little scrubbing, and the heat is high enough that it will sanitize the floor too. It works on any hard floor surface, including tile, wood and carpet.
Using the Shark Steam Pocket Mop
Using this mop requires a three-step setup.
Fill the water tank
- Lay your mop flat on the floor so that you can easily access the water tank’s cap.
- Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it.
- Run water into the filling flask, which comes with the mop, until it is completely full.
- Pour the water into the mop’s water tank until it’s filled, refilling the flask as needed.
A full tank should provide enough steam to clean for about 25 minutes.
Install the steam pocket
- Decide which mop head you would like to use and choose the appropriate pocket.
- Find the purple loop on the pocket. Push the mop head into the side of the pocket with no loop, starting at the corner.
- Pull the loop to secure the rest of the pocket to the mop head. It will fit on like a sleeve.
- Secure the pocket with its hook and loop fasteners so that it doesn’t move around when you mop.
Install the mop head
- Look for a rectangular hole on your mop head. It will be located at the notch in the steam pocket.
- Hold the mop head so that this hole is pointed back toward the mop’s handle.
- Push the head onto the base until there is a click.
Once the mop is assembled, plug it in and let it warm up for 30 seconds. Then pump the handle 12 times. Steam should start coming out all four sides of the steam pocket. To get more steam, pump the handle again as many times as needed. Push the head across the floor just like you would any other mop, flipping the head over as needed to access both sides of the pad. The mop head swivels back and forth easily.

Considerations
There are a few surfaces that will not benefit from a once over with this mop. It can damage no-wax floors or wood floors that are not stained or finished. If you know you have hard water in your home, fill the mop with distilled water instead of tap. Otherwise, you could end up with spots on your flooring.
This mop is manufactured by Euro Pro and is made in China. It comes with a one year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The steam pockets are fully washable in the washing machine but cannot be dried in the dryer. They should be replaced every three years, even if you clean them after each use.
