Have you been looking for a great place to organize your recipes? Discover new recipes? Connect with others? Share your recipes? If the answer to all of these is yes, then you're going to enjoy Love To Know's Kitchen Monki review. I recently spent a few days on this site and I have to admit, not only is it fun and engaging, I've found more than a few great dishes to prepare!
Kitchen Monki: Store and Organize Recipes Online
Today it seems like there is always somewhere to go and a thousand things to do, finding the perfect recipe sounds great, but what about shopping for the ingredients, breaking it down or sharing it with your family and friends? Kitchen Monki promises to be more than just a recipe warehouse. Instead it acts as a storage file, an organizer and more.
Let's take a look at the features based on some recipe hunting I did while on the site. First and foremost, it's free. Signing up took less than ten minutes from creating the login to receiving the confirmation email and activating my account. So that's already a plus in my book.
Second, the site is laid out so you can find what you want quickly. My first trip in, I clicked on recipes and searched for White Chicken Chili. This is one of my favorite dishes and I've tried to make it a few times, but I can never remember the recipe. I found it immediately.
I liked the recipe, so I clicked Queue which added it immediately to my personal queue on my account. Then I added it to a list and that list created a grocery shopping list from the ingredients. I can add it to a plan (schedule it for a meal on a particular day), bookmark it, share or print. I decided to add it to a Christmas Day list for unique meals.
In order to continue experimenting, I used the search and filter function to find a vegetarian meal to add to my Christmas planning. I could filter by a wide variety of requirements including:
- South Beach Diet
- Weight Watchers
- Gluten Free
- Fat Free
The search turned up several delicious suggestions including a Ratatouille Rigatoni. I added that to my planning for the day and searched for a fish based dish that turned up a Grilled Salmon with Curry and Garlic Sauce. This eclectic meal planning is right up our alley with the desire to create a day of experimental and tasty dishes.
With all three scheduled, I added their ingredients to my shopping list and it parsed everything down to one simple need to buy list. I could print it, email it or share it. I fired it off to my spouse and he was impressed by the ease of it.
Meal searching, dinner planning and grocery list parsing took less than 30 minutes.
Kitchen Monki Review: Advantages and Disadvantages
The site is really easy to use and very user intuitive (which is always a plus in my book). If you are looking for a quick introduction, the site owners have provided a video tutorial that walks you through all the basics, simply and efficiently.
The Grocery List Manager and the Mobile Grocery Lists are not to be sneezed at. These are a very fast and efficient way of combining your recipes in one quick shopping trip. No more worries about forgetting that one small ingredient when it puts it all together for you.
Recipe searching filters are top notch. With so many dietary needs to consider in one family, filtering to find just the right dish makes the search a breeze.
You can spend hours playing on this site if you have any affection for food whatsoever. Because you can customize (a plus) so much of your experience, your first few visits can be time consuming.
